Dual-Functional Iron Oxide Nanoparticles Coated with Polyvinyl Alcohol/5-Fluorouracil/Zinc-Aluminium-Layered Double Hydroxide for a Simultaneous Drug and Target Delivery System

Iron oxide nanoparticles are suitable for biomedical applications owing to their ability anchor various active agents and drugs, unique magnetic properties, nontoxicity, biocompatibility. In this work, the physico-chemical as well cytotoxicity, of Fe3O4 coated with a polymeric carrier loaded 5-fluorouracil (5-FU) anti-cancer drug discussed. The synthesized were polyvinyl alcohol Zn/Al-layered double hydroxide host. XRD, DTA/TG, FTIR analyzes confirmed presence coating layer on surface nanoparticles. results showed decrease in saturation magnetization bare after PVA/5FU/Zn/Al-LDH layer. addition, prevented agglomeration Furthermore, pseudo-second-order equation governed kinetics release. Finally, stronger activity against liver cancer cells (HepG2) compared that naked 5-FU drug, displayed no cytotoxicity towards 3T3 fibroblast cell lines. present study demonstrate potential nano delivery system treatment.
